International Forum of Well-being & Development Policy
As a result of the International Forum on Well-being & Development Policy, which took place in Guadalajara, Jalisco, from 24 to 26 November 2014, two academic and public disclosure publications were generated regarding the importance of subjective well-being on public policies, and happiness in the public agenda. Speakers from the Forum and distinguished academics on the subject were invited to collaborate with the articles that are part of the books Policies and subjective well-being. Happiness in the public agenda and Subjective well-being in Latin America.
These publications are part of the Welfare Agenda that has been promoted by the Government of the State of Jalisco since the very beginning, aiming to improve public policies and promote the population well-being. In addition to these products, a case study regarding subjective well-being in Jalisco and the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara took place in the year 2015. The product of this is the publication Reason and emotions. Subjective well-being, social capital and institutional trust in Jalisco.
Furthermore, these books are the result of the join work among the Under-Secretariat of Planning and Evaluation and several institutions, Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS) and the Research Institute of Public Policy and Governance of the University of Guadalajara, key partners in this editing work.
We hope these publications serve to better understand the social challenges, build better policies and better societies.
